A bit about my healthcare experience.....

After gaining my qualification in Occupational Therapy from the University of Brighton in 2000, I have worked in a number of roles in both hospital and community settings. I have been working as an Independent Occupational Therapy practitioner since April 2021. Before that, I worked for many years in out-patient and ward environments in Nottingham for NUH NHS Trust, at the Cedars Rehabilitation Unit and for Circle Healthcare.

The majority of my work has involved working with adults with Orthopaedic (trauma and elective), Rheumatological, Pain and Fatigue conditions as well as older people with complex long term conditions. I also have significant experience in hand therapy and splinting, and I currently work part-time in the fracture clinic Occupational Therapy team.

My different roles have primarily been working with individuals, and for a number of years I also led a group education programme for individuals with a new diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Over the years of working with people with long term conditions it became clear to me that lifestyle coaching is frequently an integral part of treatment. I have furthered my training in this area and now use my coaching skills with a diverse set of clients.

I spent almost two years working in the Enablement Team for Nottingham City Council. This work included the assessment and  provision of major and minor adaptations and equipment in the home. As a private occupational therapist, in addition to home assessment and recommendations for equipment, I have also provided housing reports to support clients with rehousing and to communicate with housing associations.

During a 5 year break from the profession (2009-2014) I raised my young children and worked part-time as a personal assistant for two young adults with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy - I continue to do regular work with them now. In 2021, I worked as a clinician within the mass vaccination team during the roll out to protect against Covid 19.
